GENERAL CLUB POLICIES

  1. Gymnasts are expected to attend classes regularly.

  2. Gymnasts are expected to be punctual. Warm-up is conducted at the start of every class and it is imperative that all gymnasts participate in warm-up to ensure that their body is ready for physical activity.

  3. Any gymnast arriving more than 15 minutes late may need to sit for the remainder of class. For safety reasons, they will not be properly stretched and injury is at greater risk. Exceptions will apply to those traveling from out of town and arrive late due to weather conditions. If this is the case, the office must be notified in due time to inform the coach.

  4. Gymnasts are expected to wear proper dress code to each and every class in order to positively influence the rhythm and structure of our classes.

  5. Gymnasts are expected to demonstrate respect for all Tuck N Twist Staff & Volunteers at all times.

  6. Gymnasts are encouraged to establish new friendships with others in their classes. We enforce fairness and everyone is expected to treat each other with respect.

  7. During class if a gymnast complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the coach will send them to the office where the parents will be notified.

  8. Gymnasts are expected to focus and pay attention to the Coaches’ instructions and keep talking to an absolute minimum.

  9. All gymnasts are encouraged not to leave the room/area once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class and bring water bottles into class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a comfortable and inspiring learning environment.

  10. Gymnasts are not permitted to touch any equipment without a coach present during/before/after class time.

  11. Parents are not permitted to enter the gymnastics floor area without consent of the Gymnastics Coach.

  12. Parents are not permitted to “spot” their children on the gym equipment without permission from the Coach.

  13. Please keep siblings not part of classes off the gym floor and equipment.

  14. Gymnasts must treat the premises and the possessions of the club all other students with respect, care, and consideration.

  15. Gymnasts are expected to clean up after themselves and any mess that they create while at the club (bathrooms included).

  16. Gymnasts understand that there is a zero tolerance behaviour policy at Tuck N Twist. Gymnasts behaving inappropriately will be removed from the class and parents will be involved.

  17. Gymnasts understand that there is a No Touching Policy at Tuck N Twist. Gymnasts should not touch other gymnasts, or any members of the Staff for any reason, unless necessary to perform student-coach spotting.

  18. Tuck N Twist strongly advises students against leaving the premises after classes without adult supervision. We strongly encourage all students to use the club’s designated waiting areas at these times.

  19. Gymnastics classes are educational and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for coaches and fellow gymnasts. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at Tuck N Twist Gymnastics will be a pleasure for all involved.

BEHAVIOUR POLICY

At Tuck N Twist Gymnastics Club, we are committed to creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for all our athletes. To ensure that everyone can enjoy their time in the gym and make the most of their learning experience, the following behaviour guidelines must be followed:

Behaviour Expectations:

1. Respect for Others: No hitting, pushing, or physical aggression of any kind.

2. Positive Communication: No yelling, screaming, or disruptive outbursts. All athletes should communicate calmly and respectfully with peers and coaches.

3. Kindness and Support: No rude, mean, or hurtful comments. We encourage uplifting and supportive words for each other.

4. Focus and Cooperation: No disruptive behaviour that distracts from the activities of the class or affects the focus of others.

Disciplinary Protocol:

We believe in giving every child the opportunity to correct their behaviour while maintaining the safety and enjoyment of all participants. If any of the above rules are not followed, the following steps will be taken:

1. First Incident: Verbal Warning

The child will receive a verbal warning from their coach, explaining why the behaviour is inappropriate and reminding them of the behaviour expectations.

2. Second Incident: Temporary Removal from Activity

If the behaviour continues, the child will be removed from the current activity for a brief period (e.g., 5-10 minutes) to reflect on their actions. They will have a chance to rejoin once they demonstrate understanding of the behaviour expectations.

3. Third Incident: Removal from Class for the Day

If the behaviour persists after the second warning, the child will be asked to sit out for the remainder of the class. Parents will be informed of the situation at pick-up.

4. Repeated Incidents: Meeting with Parents and Coach

If disruptive behaviour continues over multiple classes, a meeting will be arranged with the child, parents, and the coach to discuss a plan for improvement and any necessary actions moving forward, including possible suspension from future classes.

-------------------

Our goal is to help all children thrive in a positive environment, and we believe these steps will help them grow while maintaining respect for their peers and coaches.
